| DAVID KWAN is a composer and video artist whose
electro-acoustical work encompasses performance, video, and installation.
His approach to sound production stems from ideas and techniques found in
visual art such as collage and film montage and later in musique concrete,
radio dj-ing, and seventies dub. He received a B.A. in the Practice of Art
from UC Berkeley and an M.F.A. in Electronic Music from Mills College, where
he also instructed video production. He co-founded the electro-acoustical
improvisation group Circular Firing Squad, and has collaborated with musical
groups Citizen Band and Vorticella and drummer/composer Richie West. His
solo and collaborative music can be heard on the Asphodel/Sombient, Artifact,
and Atomic Novelties labels. He is currently the Technical Director for
the Media Arts program Mills College in Oakland, California. |
