DAVID KWAN is a composer and video artist whose electro-acoustical work encompasses performance, video, and installation. His approach to sound production stems from ideas and techniques found in visual art such as collage and film montage and later in musique concrete, radio dj-ing, and seventies dub. He received a B.A. in the Practice of Art from UC Berkeley and an M.F.A. in Electronic Music from Mills College, where he also instructed video production. He co-founded the electro-acoustical improvisation group Circular Firing Squad, and has collaborated with musical groups Citizen Band and Vorticella and drummer/composer Richie West. His solo and collaborative music can be heard on the Asphodel/Sombient, Artifact, and Atomic Novelties labels. He is currently the Technical Director for the Media Arts program Mills College in Oakland, California.
